Florestan Recital Project to Perform 'A World of Italian Song' at Dickinson College
Florestan Recital Project, the musical artists-in-residence at Dickinson College, will perform "A World of Italian Song" Saturday, February 7, at 7 p.m., in Rubendall Recital Hall of the Weiss Center for the Arts on West High Street between West and South College streets. The concert is free and open to the public.
Boston-based Florestan Recital Project is scheduled to perform Franz Liszt's "Tre Sonetti di Petrarca," Benjamin Britten's "Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo," Ildebrando Pizzetti's "Cinque Liriche" and Ottorino Respighi's "Antica poesia popolare armena." Participants are Joe Dan Harper, tenor; Jessica Bowers, mezzo-soprano; Diego Tornelli, piano; and Alison d'Amato, piano.
Florestan Recital Project, founded in 2001, joined Dickinson as musical artists-in-residence in September 2007. Florestan "brings together the cream of the crop of the new generation of … singers and pianists for enterprising programs of the song literature," according to The Boston Globe, which described the group's recitals as "deeply felt and impeccably prepared, (and) designed with the goal of expanding the song canon to the fullest extent possible, drawing connections between composers and their times from early music to present day."
