Dickinson College's Trout Gallery to Showcase Gifts from Past 25 Years
Art donated to Dickinson College over the 25-year history of The Trout Gallery will be displayed in an exhibit from January 23 to July 11. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held at the gallery Friday, January 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission to the reception and exhibit is free and open to the public.
More than 50 works will be displayed, including Thomas Scully's "Portrait of Powhatan Ellis" (1853; Ellis was a student at Dickinson), John Hesselius' "Portrait of Ct. Slater Clay" (1759), Henry Moore's "Reclining Nude" (1950), African masks and ancestral poles. Most of the works are gifts to the college.
The Trout Gallery, located in the Weiss Center for the Arts on West High Street between West and South College streets, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 pm.
