Trinity University Speech and Drama Department Presents Booth
SAN ANTONIO — The speech and drama department at Trinity University will continue its 2008-2009 theater season with the San Antonio premiere of Booth, a humorous drama about theater by Austin Pendleton and directed by Stacy Connelly, featuring Stieren guest artist Andrew Thornton. The play will be staged in the Stieren Theater at 8 p.m. Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15; at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 16; at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 19 and Thursday, November 20; and at 8 p.m. Friday, November 21, and Saturday November 22. Individual tickets are $8 for regular admission, $6 for senior citizens/faculty/staff/alumni, and $4 for students.
The New York Times called Booth "a dark edged, often witty celebration of the thespian's disjointed world." Booth is the story of the turbulent, humorous relationship between Junius Brutus Booth, the brilliant half mad, alcoholic tragedian, and his son Edwin, who became a great tragic actor in his own right. Add to the equation the appearance of Junius' second son John Wilkes Booth, and you have a tour de force for both actors and the audience.
Reservations are strongly suggested for this production and can be made by contacting the Stieren Theater box office Monday through Friday between 2 to 5 p.m. or one hour prior to each performance. For reservations and more information, call Trinity's speech and drama department at 210-999-8515.
