University of Dayton Cuts Summer Undergrad Tuition

The University of Dayton has announced it will reduce the cost of undergraduate programs this summer. The decision aims to offer students the opportunity to use summer months to make progress with their degrees.

According to the announcement, tuition for Summer 2024 is set at $990 per credit hour, a 43 percent decrease from the usual fees for undergraduate courses, Erudera.com reports.

Additionally, students will have the option to receive both in-person and online instruction.

“Summer 2024 tuition will be $990 per credit hour, a 43 percent reduction from the standard rate for undergraduate courses. A broad range of in-person and online course offerings are available,” the university explains.

This is not the first time the University of Dayton has lowered its summer undergraduate tuition for students who plan to use the summer months to advance in their studies. Last year, it reduced tuition to $900 per credit hour, a 46 percent decrease from the usual undergraduate courses rate.

“This is a way we can support both current and incoming students to reach their educational goals, whether they are using the reduced summer rate to graduate early, pursue an additional certificate or minor, or take time during another semester for an opportunity such as an internship,” Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management, Jason Reinoehl, said while commenting on the reduction announced on February last year.

The undergraduate tuition at the University of Dayton is $49,140 for the 2024/25 academic year. New first-year students need an additional budget of $9,730 to cover housing fees. The total direct cost amounts to $65,460.

The University of Dayton enrolls more than 11,000 students, including undergraduates, graduates, and PhDs. According to a survey conducted by the school, 98 percent of undergraduates were employed in the 2021/22 academic year.

In a statement released in August last year, Reinoehl said the university is committed to enrolling talent from all backgrounds and offering these students the right support throughout their academic careers.

As of fall 2023, the number of full-time undergraduates at the University of Dayton stood at 7,918, of which 3,784 were women and 4,132 men. During the same period, the school recorded a significant number of graduate and law students, enrolling 3,186.

The latest development at the university involves a grant of $193,981 awarded by Ohio Third Frontier to the University of Dayton Center for Cybersecurity and Data Intelligence. The purpose of this grant is to prepare students against cyber risks.
